Mike Nelson Pod #1 selected for ing discerning eye exhibition 2007 organised by Parker Harris the discerning eye exhibition from 15th - 25th November 2007 at the Mall Galleries London. Mike Nelson Pod #1 The pod range is based around the idea of a container or detachable compartment, which would carry or contain another. The design has many variations, each one unique in their own right. Whether the pieces are viewed as sculptures or objects the formal qualities are developed to appeal, entice or intrigue the viewer. The majority of my work is produced from wood, with its intrinsic qualities enhancing the uniqueness of each piece. In 2006 I began producing a body of work combining two areas important to me, the drawing & making process. I rely on drawing as a means of visual brainstorming to generate, define and refine ideas.
